Supported formats

JPG / JPEG

1

Good for photos and smaller lossy output. Transparent areas become a solid background when exported to JPG.

PNG

2

Best for screenshots and transparent graphics. PNG output is usually lossless.

WebP

3

Modern browser-friendly output that often gives smaller files with good visual quality.

Privacy and local processing

Image processing happens in your browser with Canvas APIs. Toolbye does not add an upload service for this tool.

Refreshing the page or clearing the image removes the current selection and generated preview URLs from the session.

Avoid processing sensitive images on public or shared devices where local files may be visible to others.

Image Tools FAQ

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The main image operations run locally in your browser. The tool uses File, Canvas, and Object URL APIs.

Why is PNG compression sometimes not smaller?

PNG is usually lossless. If you need a much smaller file, try WebP or JPG output with a lower quality value.

Can I process animated GIF files?

Not in this first version. GIF uploads show a clear unsupported-format message.

Why does JPG remove transparency?

JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels are flattened onto the selected background color.

What is the maximum file size?

The default limit is 20 MB per image to keep browser memory usage predictable.
